Additional Information
(Sea Frost)

Insulation, the barrier required to maintain proper refrigerator and freezer temperatures, is a major factor in any refrigeration installation. The performance of all Sea Frost systems is based on the size of the box, the value of insulation and the climate. Though the following guidelines will vary somewhat according to box volume, a freezer box should generally have a minimum of four inches of urethane foam on all surfaces and the refrigerator box three inches.

Refrigerants have been the subject of much debate since the phase-out of CFC refrigerants. Since 1992, Sea Frost has used R-134a in all systems. R-134a is a pure refrigerant used world-wide in the auto and appliance industries because of its superior performance. Unlike some of the newer "blends," it has negligible environmental impact and is not scheduled for phase-out at any time in the future.

Assorted Holdover Plates and Block

Holdover plates manufactured by Sea Frost are constructed of aluminum because it allows for the maximum heat transfer. We manufacture 22 stock sizes as well as custom designs, The Sea Frost block functions in the same way as a plate and is designed for installation in a box where it can be mounted up high and beneath an overhanging counter top.

Ice making is available with all Sea Frost systems.

Fittings in Sea Frost systems are SwagelokR, used in instrumentation and industrial processes because of their ease of assembly and leak-proof design. They have a double ferrule construction, can he remade and offer superior sealing under vibration.

S/P/U Valve V/U Plumbed in Series

Valves used in our systems are protected by an epoxy/microballoon casting. Each valve is calibrated and test operated before shipment. The Engine Drive S/P/U houses the system access ports, high pressure cut out (for compressor protection), and suction pressure valve which maintains preset pressure to cool and lubricate the compressor. The V/U houses the thermostatic expansion valve, protecting it from the marine environment and improper adjustment.

Brackets that interface the Engine Drive compressor with many popular propulsion engines are available through Sea Frost.
